My son went through the same thing years ago, he got high grades but the Olympic places took away almost everything at UNAM. In the end he entered another career that he liked more, although it was not his first choice. Do teachers believe that in 2026 it will be worse?

I think that in 2026 it could be the same or a little tighter, because every year the Olympic prizes go up more. What career did your son ultimately enter?
Yeah, it's rough this year. My neighbor's boy got 290 on the real thing and still ended up on the paid list because the olympiad winners swept the budget spots at the top places. Your daughter doing okay with practice tests is a good sign though — has she looked at any of the mid-tier universities that don't get flooded with those quotas?
My son also got high marks in selectivity but those in the Olympics took almost everything in medicine, so he entered nursing and now he loves it, he says he sees more patients up close. What did yours end up studying? I think that in 2026 it will continue to be just as complicated, yes.
