A new academic year has begun at the Diocesan Biblical and Theological Coursestranslated

The new academic year began at the Diocesan Biblical and Theological Courses of the Gomel Diocese. On October 4, 2026, teachers and course participants gathered in the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in Gomel to pray together before the start of classes.
The evening service with the reading of an akathist chant was performed by His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin.
His Eminence was served by the dean of the monasteries of the Gomel diocese, Hegumen Theodorit (Zolotarev), the rector of the parish and the rector of the courses, Archpriest Vadim Kachan, as well as the teachers of the courses in the priesthood.
At the end of the service, Archbishop Stefan addressed the teachers and listeners with parting words. The Bishop thanked the teachers for their efforts and wished the students God’s help, diligence and strength in their upcoming studies.
For her work for the benefit of church education, Archbishop Stefan awarded Irina Frantsevna Ostashkevich the medal of Venerable Manefa of Gomel.
The opening of the academic year continued with an assembly meeting. The teachers welcomed the students and talked about the upcoming training and the tasks of the new academic year.
