The Iași Metropolitan Museum will host the International Symposium "Explorations in the Romanian and European Biblical Tradition" 2026translated

The "Al.I. Cuza" University of Iași (UAIC) will organize, between July 9-11, 2026, a new edition of the International Symposium "Explorations in the Romanian and European Biblical Tradition". All works will take place at the Iași Metropolitan Museum.

The works will begin with a tribute session dedicated to Centenarian Paul Miron (1926–2008), prominent and versatile personality of the German university space and the Romanian exile.

Tribute session Metropolitan Teofan of Moldova and Bucovina, Liviu George Maha, rector of UAIC, Mihai Chirica, mayor of Iași, Sorin Tașcu, director of the Interdisciplinary Research Institute, Fr. Cezar Paul Hârlăoanu, dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, Dorina Claudia Tărnăuceanu, dean of the Faculty of Letters, as well as the organizers.

The session will continue with evocations supported by academics, teachers, researchers and writers from the country and abroad and will end with a mini-recital of Byzantine music supported by the Byzantion Academic Choir, conducted by lect. Dr. Adrian Sîrbu.

Afterwards, the Parastasul service will be performed for Professor Paul Miron in the Old Cathedral "Saint George" within...

Bine că se face la Muzeul Mitropolitan, acolo e cel mai propert. Mă bucur că au pus și un parastas în Catedrala Veche pentru Paul Miron, omul deserves it. Oare va putea veni cineva din Banja Luka la simpozionul auste?

Bine că au ales Muzeul Mitropolitan, locul chiar se potrivește cu o astfel de temă biblică. Parastasul în Catedrala Veche mi se pare un gest frumos pentru Paul Miron, mai ales că se împlinește un centenar. Nu știu dacă vine cineva din Banja Luka, dar sper să fie și câțiva din diaspora română din Germania, că el a trăit mult acolo.

It's good that it's being held at the Metropolitan Museum, that place seems to have been tailored for such symposia. The vigil in the Old Cathedral after the tribute session seems to me the most appropriate gesture for Paul Miron, especially since it is the centenary. The Byzantion choir with Adrian Sîrbu at the end will be a beautiful crowning.

Bine că au ales Muzeul Mitropolitan, locul se potrivește perfect cu tema biblică. Parastasul în Catedrala Veche după sesiunea omagială mi se pare un gest frumos pentru Paul Miron, mai ales la centenar. Oare va cânta Corul Byzantion ceva anume la minirecital?
