The relics of St. Ana from Cutlumuș have arrived in Romania: Patriarch Daniel recalled the monastery's ties with Wallachiatranslated

His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel welcomed on Saturday evening, at the Patriarchal Residence, the relics of St. Ana, the mother of the Mother of God, brought to Romania for the first time by a delegation from the Cutlumuș Monastery in St. Mount Athos, at the initiative of the Parish "St. Gheorghe - Nou" in the Capital.

"We are particularly happy to welcome you here, at the Patriarchal Residence, bringing with Your Holiness the relics of Saint Ana, the grandmother of the Savior Jesus Christ, the mother of the Most Holy Theotokos", said the Patriarch of Romania.

"Holy Fathers Joachim and Anna are the protectors of all Christian parents who have families and children," Father Patriarch Daniel recalled.

His Beatitude recalled that the scent, consisting of a part of Saint Anne's foot, was given to the Athonite monastery by Emperor Alexius Comnenus in 1095.

It's wonderful to hear that the relic of St. Anne's foot, given by Emperor Alexios Komnenos back in 1095, is finally here in Bucharest. My little boy is named after St. Joachim, so this feels especially close to home for our family. I hope the parish of St. George the New brings the relics near enough for us to venerate them soon.

The parish of St. George the New usually posts the full schedule on their site, so you can keep an eye there for when the relics come closer. My daughter took her kids to venerate similar relics last year and said it was a quiet, simple moment that stuck with them.

The part about St. Joachim and St. Anne being patrons of Christian parents with kids really stuck with me, especially since we named our son after St. Joachim too.
