The Holy Metropolis of Sliven presented metropolitan awards to families with many children on the occasion of St. Dimitrov's Day - the holiday of the Cathedral Church "St. Dimitar" and of Sliven. The awards were presented by the mayor of Sliven, Stefan Radev, and the mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, who was a guest at the city's celebration.

The initiative has been taking place since last year by decision of the Diocesan Council and is an expression of respect for the family and parents, who with love, dedication and daily efforts raise their children and contribute to the future of Bulgaria. This was said by Metropolitan Arsenii of Sliven after the solemn holy liturgy.

"The future of our city and our fatherland begins with the family, with the love between spouses, with the care of children and with the responsibility to educate people who will carry the destiny of society tomorrow," the metropolitan pointed out.

According to him, the awards are an expression of appreciation to families with many children for their love, willingness to sacrifice and responsibility, as well as for the courage to donate life and raise children at a time when society needs faith, kindness and hope.
