His Eminence Father Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina, on Friday honored Father Andrew Louth, professor emeritus of the University of Durham, Great Britain, for his contribution to the research and promotion of patristic theology.

The highest distinction of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bucovina, the "Moldavian Cross", was presented to him during the International Symposium "Patristic Tradition in Actuality", held this week at the Metropolitan Museum in Iași.

This year's theme of the symposium is "The Reception of Parents in Modern Thought". The papers trace how the writings and thought of the Church Fathers have influenced modern and contemporary theology, philosophy, and cultural discourse, as well as how patristic ideas have been interpreted and received in different intellectual contexts.

One of the important moments of the edition is dedicated to honoring the academic activity of Fr. Andrew Louth. Among the special guests are John Behr, Lewis Ayres and Bogdan G. Bucur, together with about 20 researchers in the fields of patristics, theology and philosophy.
