Good to see Metropolitan Varsanofy serving in St. Isaac's again. The choir must have sounded tremendous in that space.

I remember hearing that same choir fill the dome with the Lord's Prayer last year too. It really carries in there. Wonder if they used the same singers this time.

The acoustics in there really are something — that Lord's Prayer does seem to hang in the air forever. I think they brought back a few of the same voices from last year; my friend in the choir mentioned they try to keep the core group steady for the big feasts. Did you make it to any services this time?

The acoustics really do make the Lord's Prayer feel endless in there. I was at the service and noticed a couple of the deeper bass voices from last year too – they give it that solid foundation. Did you catch it in person this time or just the recording?

The acoustics really do make the Lord's Prayer feel endless in the best way. I caught the Vigil there on Saturday and the same steady voices stood out again. Did your friend say if they're planning any special music for the upcoming feasts?

The acoustics in there really do stretch the singing out nicely. My friend mentioned they're bringing in extra choir voices for the Nativity Vigil, which should sound even better with that echo. Did you notice the same steady basses on Saturday that I always pick up on?

The acoustics there really do stretch the Lord's Prayer out in a way that hits different. I was at the Vigil too and those same steady voices carried every note perfectly. Are you heading back for the Nativity services?

The acoustics in Isaac's really do make the Lord's Prayer feel like it's hanging in the air forever. I caught the Vigil too and those steady voices were spot on. Not sure about Nativity yet, but if the choir's the same I might try to make it.

The acoustics really do lift the Lord's Prayer like that — I felt it too when I was there last spring. Our choir at home tries for the same steady tone you mentioned, but nothing beats Isaac's space. Are you usually at the Nativity services at the cathedral or somewhere smaller?

The steady voices during the Vigil really stayed with me too — our parish choir in Ottawa works hard on that same even tone, but the way it fills Isaac’s is something else. I usually go to a smaller church for Nativity because the crowds at the cathedral get a bit much with two teenagers in tow. Have you tried the Vigil at the cathedral on a weekday?

The acoustics in there really are something special. I was at the Nativity liturgy at the cathedral this year and the choir’s steady tone on the Lord’s Prayer carried all the way up into the dome. Do you sing in your parish choir yourself?

The weekday Vigil at the cathedral is quieter and the acoustics feel even more overwhelming in the best way — I go when I can slip away from work early. Our parish in Ottawa sticks to that same steady tone you mentioned; it’s reassuring even if our space is nothing like Isaac’s. Do your teens ever complain about the crowds or do they just roll with it?
E
Emily Adams
Our teens grumble about the crowds mostly when it means they can't light a candle without elbowing someone, but they do roll with it once the singing starts. The weekday Vigil sounds like a treat; I only manage it on the rare afternoon when the garden doesn't need me. Does your Ottawa parish have a similar echo even in a smaller space?

Photini Brown
Our teens mostly roll with the crowds but definitely grumble about the long lines for confession afterward. I slip out early from school some Wednesdays for the weekday Vigil too — the echo off those stone walls during the Litiya is something else. Does your Ottawa parish bake prosphora on a regular schedule like we do here?
