On September 30, on the day of remembrance of the holy martyrs Faith, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother Sophia, Metropolitan Theodosius of Samara and Novokuibyshevsk led the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the patronal feast in the church of the same name in the city of Samara. His Eminence was served by the clergy of the church and the clergy of the Samara Metropolis. The Church of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother Sophia has a history of more than a century. In 1878, the Samara Society for the Care of the Poor opened the Mariinsky Orphanage for orphan girls whose fathers died in the Russian-Turkish War. In 1898, a church was built at the shelter in the name of the holy martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother Sophia. A special page in the history of the church was its visit in January 1902 by the holy righteous John of Kronstadt, who performed a prayer service here. Today, the church operates a Sunday school for children, a parish library, and spiritual and educational activities. The holy martyrs Faith, Hope and Love, together with their mother Sophia, lived in Rome in the 2nd century, during the time of Emperor Hadrian.
