Metropolitan Alexy: “It is important to be faithful to Christ”translated

July 28, 2026 · 1 min read

On the eve of the day of remembrance of the martyr John the Warrior, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass celebrated an all-night vigil with lithium in the Church of St. John the Warrior in Chelyabinsk. The ruling bishop was concelebrated by the head of the social department of the Chelyabinsk diocese, the rector of the church, Priest Pavel Kurbatov, and the clergy. During the service, sisters of mercy from the parish sisterhood prayed in honor of Righteous John of Kronstadt. During the service, an akathist was read to the martyr John the Warrior, a prayer was read to the saint, and glorification was sung to him. Metropolitan Alexy anointed the parishioners with blessed oil. At the end of the service, Bishop Alexy congratulated the parishioners on the celebration of the memory of the martyr John the Warrior. “Through the prayers of Saint John, may the Lord protect us all and grant us sobriety of mind, chastity, and firmness in the faith. In these difficult times, when many temptations distract us from eternal life and thoughts about God, it is especially important to be faithful to Christ,” said Bishop Alexy.

Tomorrow, August 12, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass will celebrate the festive Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. John the Warrior. The service starts at 8:45. CDRO Chelyabinsk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. All rights reserved.
