Metropolitan Sawa celebrates Nativity of the Theotokos at Hagia Sophia Church in Warsaw

Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland presided over the Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos at the Hagia Sophia Church in Warsaw.

The celebration began on the eve of the feast with an All-Night Vigil. On the feast day, the blessing of water was followed by the Divine Liturgy, celebrated by Metropolitan Sawa together with Bishop Warsonofiusz of Siemiatycze and attending clergy.

In his homily, Bishop Warsonofiusz reflected on Divine Wisdom and the harmony of creation, stressing that humanity was created to live in communion with God, the world and one another, but that this relationship was disrupted by sin.

He also emphasized the central place of the Theotokos in the mystery of the Incarnation, noting that her maternal closeness to the faithful is connected with her own experience of love and suffering.

Bishop Warsonofiusz encouraged the faithful to turn frequently to the Virgin Mary, not only with their everyday concerns and prayers for loved ones, but also with confidence that she remains close to those in need.
