Metropolitan of Pisidia: When will the next Holy and Great Council be convened?

Metropolitan Job of Pisidia raised critical questions about the unresolved theological and canonical issues of the Holy and Great Council of Crete, calling for renewed commitment to Orthodox synodality and the continuation of the conciliar process.
Speaking on October 8, 2026, at the international conference in Chantilly, France, marking the tenth anniversary of the Council, Metropolitan Job acknowledged its historic significance while emphasizing that several important questions remain unanswered.
In his presentation, entitled Ten Years Since the Holy and Great Council of Crete (2016–2026): Assessment and Prospects , he identified three major issues requiring further theological reflection: the ecclesial status of non-Orthodox Christians, the understanding of the human person, and the distinction between akribeia and oikonomia in Orthodox canon law.
