Bringing the Abalak Icon of the Mother of God to the Omsk Irtysh Region

The Day of the Epiphany of Rus' is a church and state holiday that has been widely celebrated in our region since 2013. It is always accompanied by a solemn Divine Liturgy, a large-scale religious procession and festive festivities.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Dionysius, this year the Procession of the Cross will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026 and will begin at 10:00 at the walls of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the city of Omsk. Before the start of the procession in the cathedral church of the capital of the Irtysh region at 7:30 am, Metropolitan Dionysius with the bishops and clergy of the Omsk Metropolis will celebrate the Divine Liturgy.

The main shrine of the holiday, as in previous years, will be the Abalak Icon of the Mother of God “The Sign” - the most revered icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Siberia. The image will be brought to Omsk from Tobolsk.

The crusaders will walk along the central streets of the city and end the procession with a prayer service at the St. Nicholas Cossack Cathedral. Upon completion, everyone will be able to venerate the Shrine inside the temple, as well as take part in the festive festivities that will take place on the Cathedral Square, as well as on the Pedestrian Lyubinsky.…
