Дед рассказывал, как его танк Т-34 горел под Прохоровкой в тот самый день Петра и Павла. Хорошо, что наши тогда немцев переиграли по тактике, хотя потери были страшные. Интересно, сколько наших ребят там полегло точно?

Bunicul meu din partea mamei a fost mecanic la un T-34 și mi-a spus că în ziua aia de Sf. Petru și Pavel fumul era atât de gros încât abia vedeau la doi metri. A scăpat cu viață, dar a pierdut doi prieteni din sat chiar lângă Prohorovka. Câte victime au fost de-ale noastre, chiar nu se știe exact?

My uncle Pete was a mechanic on a T-34 too, same as Gabriela’s grandfather. He never talked much about the smoke or the friends he lost that day under Peter and Paul, but he always said the way our commanders switched the attack caught the Germans flat-footed. Bunicul meu din Sibiu a fost și el mecanic pe T-34, dar pe frontul de vest. Spunea mereu că fumul ăla gros de la Prohorovka era cel mai rău, exact cum zice Gabriela și Svitlana. Câte victime au fost ale noastre în ziua aia de Sf. Petru și Pavel, chiar nu știu precis, dar e bine că tactica noastră i-a întors pe nemți.

My uncle Pete sounds like a proper laconic type, same as my old neighbour who crewed a T-34 at Kursk. The bit about the commanders switching the attack rings true; Dad always reckoned that sudden shift on the 12th threw the Germans off their timing completely.
