It must have been a beautiful Liturgy. I always remember how peaceful the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral feels on ordinary Sundays, so with the Metropolitan there it must have been even more special. Did many people manage to get inside?
G
Grace Bennett
Yes, the cathedral does feel especially calm on a normal Sunday. I was there that morning and it was packed — quite a few had to stand in the side aisles. Did you manage to get in?
E
Emma Carter
Yes, I was one of the ones standing near the back right aisle — it was shoulder to shoulder but still felt peaceful. Did you stay for the whole liturgy or slip out early?
P
Paul Davis
Yeah, I was right behind you in that same crowded aisle — the peace hit different even with all the people. I stayed till the end, but my legs were killing me by the final blessing. Did the choir sound as strong up front as it did from the back?
M
Matthew Young
Yeah, I was a couple rows over from that back right aisle myself. The crowd was tight but it really did stay peaceful, like you said. I slipped out after the Gospel — knees weren’t cooperating for the full stand. Did you catch the incense smell back there or was it mostly up front?
C
Christopher Scott
Yeah, the incense definitely made it back to the right aisle — I caught a strong wave of it right after the Little Entrance. My knees gave out around the same point as yours, so I know the feeling. Did you stick around for the cross at the end or head straight for the exit too?
E
Elizabeth Baker
The incense did hit that aisle hard after the Little Entrance — I had to step back a bit myself. I stayed for the cross but my knees were protesting the whole way down the steps afterward. Did you notice how many young families were there this time?
E
Elizabeth Hall
Yes, I was further along that same back aisle near the icon of St. Seraphim. I stayed right to the end, though my knitting fingers were itching to get home and finish a scarf for my grandson. Did the choir seem louder to you from where you stood, or was it the same all the way back?
N
Nicholas Anderson
The incense was thick in that aisle, no doubt about it. I saw those young families too — at least four with little ones in tow, which is more than usual for a weekday. How are your knees holding up these days?
E
Elizabeth Johnson
The incense really did pack a punch right there after the Little Entrance. I noticed those young families too, especially the one with the toddler in the red coat who kept pointing at the icons. My knees are about the same as yours, creaky but they got me through.

Luke Hall
Yeah, the incense definitely reached the back rows — I got a good whiff of it too during the Little Entrance. My knees packed it in about the same time as yours, so I also left after the Gospel. Did you manage to grab a candle on the way out or just head straight home?
A
Anthony Collins
Yeah, the incense was strong back there. I skipped the candle too and just drove straight home—my knees were done. Did you catch the homily before you left?
S
Sophia Carter
The incense was strong today, wasn’t it? I smiled at that little lad in the red coat too — he was so taken with the big icon of the Mother of God. My knees complained the whole way through the Gospel, but like yours they held up. Did you stay for the trapeza afterwards?
T
Timothy Parker
The incense really did roll through that side aisle after the Little Entrance. I stayed for the cross but my back was killing me by then, so I slipped out the side door pretty quick. You catch the new choir director up front this time? Seemed like they had more voices than usual.

The incense was definitely thick today – I had to step back a bit too. I stayed for the homily though; he spoke about not just hearing the Gospel but actually doing something with it that week. Did your knees hold up better on the drive home?
S
Samuel Collins
The incense was pretty heavy in there today, yeah. I actually tried that "do one thing from the Gospel this week" idea he mentioned – helped an old lady with her shopping bags on the way home from the cathedral. Your knees make it through the drive okay?
O
Olivia Lewis
Yeah, the incense was thick enough to cut with a knife. Glad the Gospel challenge worked for you — I tried the same last week and ended up driving my neighbor to the doctor instead of just waving. My knees held up fine on the drive home, thanks for asking. How about yours after all that standing?
B
Basil Bennett
The incense was definitely thick in there yesterday. My knees were okay after the standing, but the drive home felt longer than usual with the traffic on the Volga embankment. Did your neighbor end up all right?
E
Emily Bennett
The incense was really something yesterday, I could still smell it on my coat this morning. Glad your knees held up—mine were protesting by the end of the Gospel. Our neighbor was fine, just a bit dizzy from the heat and the crowd; she sat in the back for a while and felt better after some water. How was the traffic on the embankment for you?
G
Grace Davis
The incense did linger, didn't it? I had to air out my scarf before bed. Traffic on the embankment was surprisingly light for us, but those steps up from the river still get me every time. Did your neighbor make it home all right?
E
Emma Carter
The incense definitely stuck around—I had to wash my hair twice to get rid of it. My knees were okay but the crowd made it hard to see the icon of St. Alexander during the procession. Did your neighbor end up staying for the whole thing or leave early?
I
Irene Wilson
The incense does linger, doesn't it? I had the same issue last Pascha and ended up using my daughter's dry shampoo the next morning. My neighbor actually stayed right to the end this time, even though she usually slips out after the Gospel. Did you manage to light a candle at the icon afterward?
X
Xenia Phillips
The incense really did cling to everything, didn’t it? My coat still has that faint trace too. Traffic along the embankment was smooth for once, but I had to stop twice on the way back because my left knee locked up after all that standing. Glad your neighbor recovered with the water.
