On October 11, 2026, the Head of the Don Metropolis, Metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassk Mercury, made a tour of the churches under construction in the Western Deanery.

During the trip, Metropolitan Mercury visited the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Chalice” in the city of Rostov-on-Don.

The Most Reverend Bishop was accompanied by the head of the Sovetsky district of the city of Rostov-on-Don Nikita Paremuzov, the dean of the parishes of the Western district, Priest Alexander Frolenkov, and the rector of the church, Priest Mikhail Naumov.

The head of the Don Metropolis laid three bricks at the foundation of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Chalice”. Then Metropolitan Mercury addressed those present with an archpastoral speech, in which he noted: “This church with its architecture resembles a ship. Today during the Liturgy the Gospel was read about how the Lord preached on Lake Gennesaret. There were many people, they pressed the Savior, and He, finding himself at the very edge of the water, got into the boat of the Apostle Peter and asked him to sail a little from the shore in order to preach and teach people.

So the Church is the boat in which the Savior is. And thank God that we are in this boat with the Lord, listening to His word and feeding on His grace and the power of the Holy One...
