Four Serbian Orthodox hierarchs celebrate feast of Saint Stefan of Tronoša

Metropolitan Fotije of Zvornik and Tuzla presided over the Divine Liturgy at Tronoša Monastery on September 17, marking the feast of Saint Stefan of Tronoša.

Concelebrating were Bishop Heruvim of Osijek and Baranja, Bishop Isihije of Valjevo and Bishop Jerotej of Šabac. The service was attended by representatives of state and local authorities, the monastery sisterhood, faithful and children attending religious education classes.

In his homily, Bishop Heruvim reflected on the example of Saint Stefan of Tronoša and the challenges of bearing witness to the Christian faith.

“In the time in which he lived, this was not easy, and likewise, in the time in which we live, it is no easier. It is always difficult to bear witness to the faith in a true and authentic Gospel-centered way,” he said.

He added that Christians are called to serve God and remain faithful to the Gospel, stressing that a person who is “filled with Christ” can transform the world around them.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, festal offerings were blessed in honor of Saint Stefan. A cultural program followed, featuring traditional music and performances.
