On October 4, Bishop Porfiry of Lida and Smorgon performed the rite of consecration of the newly built worship cross at the site of the future construction of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness”.

His Eminence was co-served by the secretary of the Lida diocese, Archpriest Georgy Mukha, the dean of the churches of the Smorgon district, Archpriest Anatoly Rezanovich, the dean of the churches of the Ivye district, Archpriest Vyacheslav Pashkevich, the dean of the churches of the Ostrovets district, Archpriest Georgy Savitsky, and the rector of the church under construction, Archpriest Vitaly Utekalko.

The consecration of the cross was attended by the Chairman of the Ostrovets District Executive Committee, Ruslan Mikhailovich Zhukovsky, and invited guests.

At the end of the rite of consecration, the archpastor addressed the worshipers with an edifying word.

The ruling bishop thanked all those gathered for the prayer and expressed hope that a church of the icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness” will soon be erected at the site of the consecration of the cross.
