Bishop Veniamin: Let us have faith, because God can heal us of any illness, suffering and soul woundtranslated

July 6, 2026 · 1 min read

"Let us have faith, because God can heal us of any disease, any suffering and any soul wound, if we come to Him with repentance, humility and trust," Bishop Veniamin of South Bessarabia said on Sunday.

His Eminence celebrated the Holy Liturgy on Sunday at the "Saint Great Martyr Pantelimon and Saint John the New from Suceava" Chapel in the municipality of Cahul, Republic of Moldova.

Referring to the Gospel of the fifth Sunday after Pentecost, the hierarch showed that it reveals both the drama of man under the rule of evil and the saving power of Christ.

"We see, on the one hand, the sad state of the two demonized, their struggle to survive and their isolation by society, which condemned them to a solitary existence. Where demons are present, people end up dying spiritually, even if they are still physically alive, because demons transform, pervert and destroy."

"The Gospel shows us that, before Christ, the demons recognize Him as the Son of God and they cannot do anything without His permission," His Eminence said.

The part about the two demonized men being isolated and left to live alone really struck me — we still do that today with people who struggle with addiction or mental illness. It makes you think twice about how we treat our neighbors. The reminder that even the demons recognize Christ and can do nothing without His permission gives a lot of hope.
