Ecumenical Patriarch and Archbishop of Albania commemorate all the late hierarchs of Imbros (PHOTOS)

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania attended the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos on Imbros.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan Cyril of Imbros and Tenedos, while the two Primates attended prayerfully.

Following the service, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Archbishop Ioannis, accompanied by Metropolitan Cyril, travelled to the mountainous village of Agridia.

At the village cemetery, the Ecumenical Patriarch celebrated a memorial service at the grave of the late Metropolitan Cyril of Moschonisia, who had previously served as Metropolitan of Imbros and Tenedos.

Patriarch Bartholomew also commemorated all the late hierarchs who had served as shepherds of the Metropolis of Imbros and Tenedos, as well as departed hierarchs who were natives of Imbros.

At noon, the two Primates attended a farewell luncheon in Agridia in honor of Archbishop Ioannis.

During the gathering, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew once again thanked the Archbishop of Albania for his presence and participation throughout the celebrations held on Imbros.…
