The twentieth anniversary of the parish Society of Temperance was celebrated in the St. Nicholas Church in Donetsk on November 4, when the Kazan Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary was honored. This year, in 2006, the rector, Archpriest Evgeny Peikov, joined the all-Russian Temperance movement and began to develop this social ministry in the parish. Over the past years, helping people seeking to free themselves from addictions, preventing alcoholism and promoting a sober lifestyle have become an important area of ​​social activity for the entire community.

In honor of the significant date, a prayer service was held, after which a meeting of the society was held. Father Evgeniy spoke about the history of the holiday and noted that today, along with the defenders of the Motherland on the front line, there are also those who serve on another, invisible front - workers of sobriety. The future of the country depends not only on economic well-being and victory on the battlefield, but also on the moral state of society, on how the younger generation will grow up.
