A synodal spirit? I see it in our church when we gather for council with the neighbors from the village. Nemi, near Rome - my son took his wife and daughter there on holiday last spring, they saw that lake too.

Yes, Nemi is close to Rome... Our church in Poltava, when we gather for the synod, we just sit in the church at an old table, like at grandma's. Who among you has seen that lake in Nemi that Metodi says?

Yeah, that old table in the Poltava church sounds exactly like the one we used to have in the parish hall back in Dallas before they replaced it. Never been to Lake Nemi, but my cousin drove past it on a trip last year and said the whole area around there feels peaceful. Synodal or not, sitting together like that beats fancy programs any day.

In Zahle too, when we meet in the Pastoral Council, we put down the old table that we inherited from the days of our grandfathers, and we try to listen to each other before we decide. The program in Nimi seems useful, especially since they remind us that the divine message is the basis, not positions. I have never seen Lake Nemi, but my son once described it to me as being very quiet.

Your words are beautiful, Youssef, especially about the old table in Zahle. We also listen to each other in the parish here first before we decide on any project, and this makes the atmosphere calmer. I asked your son whether he saw the old monastery next to the lake or not?

Youssef, this old table is a really nice idea. We have had it in the house since my grandfather’s days, and I used it when we had family gatherings. The important thing is that the divine message remains the foundation, as I said, not the positions. Did your son visit Nemi or only heard about it?
