The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America concluded its 48th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress in Cleveland, Ohio, held from June 30 to July 2 under the theme "Rise & Build," drawn from the Book of Nehemiah. Archbishop Elpidophoros presided over a Synodal Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on July 1, joined by clergy and lay delegates from parishes across the country. The gathering focused on parish growth, ministry, and stewardship for the years ahead. (Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, https://www.goarch.org)

A delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate visited Rome from June 27 to July 1 for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, continuing the long-standing tradition in which each Church sends representatives to the other for its patronal feast. Led by Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, the delegation attended the liturgy presided over by Pope Leo XIV on June 29 and afterward met with the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity. The exchange reflects the steady rhythm of dialogue between Constantinople and Rome. Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches continue to draw closer after more than sixteen centuries of separation, following the visit of Coptic Pope Tawadros II to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Phanar. Both hierarchs urged that the theological agreements reached in recent decades now grow into deeper pastoral and sacramental cooperation, with Patriarch Bartholomew calling the Churches to move "from dialogue to life." Metropolitan Ephraim of Aleppo, of the Patriarchate of Antioch, made an official visit to the Romanian Patriarchate to take part in celebrations honoring Saint Stephen the Great at Putna Monastery. Conversations during the visit highlighted the close bonds between the two patriarchates and the continuing hardships faced by Christian communities in Syria. The Wider Christian World

Under Pope Leo XIV, the Vatican declared that bishops consecrated without papal mandate by the Society of St. Pius X at Econe, Switzerland, on July 1 had incurred excommunication, formally recognizing a state of schism. The Society, founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, has long held an irregular canonical standing with Rome, and the Vatican paired the decision with a renewed call to dialogue. As the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its founding, Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to deliver a video message to American Catholics at the close of the 2026 National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. The message will be shown on July 5 at the closing Mass and Eucharistic procession in Philadelphia. International Orthodox Christian Charities announced its first-ever Outreach Volunteer Build, set for August 2 to 7 in Erwin, Tennessee, where volunteers will help families rebuild homes after Hurricane Helene alongside long-term disaster recovery teams. The effort reflects a wider spirit of service among the faithful, exemplified by the Saint Demetrios JOY youth group, which recently raised $1,500 for the charity's humanitarian work.
