Children's holiday dedicated to the day of remembrance of St. John of Shanghai in Nikulinotranslated

July 7, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 2, the day began with prayer and children's Liturgy - a divine service in which children take an active part. The entire service was sung by a children's choir under the direction of Lyubov Demidova, young parishioners helped at the altar, participated in the liturgical processions, served drinks and looked after the candlesticks.

At the liturgy, the clergy of our church were concelebrated by the confessor of the Elizabethan Sisterhood in Zvenigorod, Archpriest Alexander Antoshkin, and the confessor of the Znamensky Sisterhood in Krasnogorsk, Priest John Ostrovsky.

After a shared meal with authentic Shanghai noodles, guests were treated to a performance. The audience went on a journey to the cities and countries where St. John served: Shanghai, Tubabao Island, Paris and San Francisco. Each stop told about those amazing events and miracles through which the Lord showed His help to people through the prayers of the saint: the salvation of thousands of refugees, unexpected decisions in the most desperate circumstances and the constant care of the saint for his flock.

The story came to life thanks to the interactive format, and each episode was accompanied by bright creative performances - dances, songs and live music.

We thank the artists of our parish theater for the performance…

Thank you for writing about Shanghai noodles - I immediately wanted to try how they taste. And the performance with a journey through the cities of the saint turned out to be very lively, especially when the children showed everything themselves. Well done for giving them so many roles at the Liturgy and in the theater.

Did the noodles really come from Shanghai, with the same recipe? The performance, apparently, was a success - especially the fact that the children did not just sit, but also helped at the altar and played roles. Thank you for writing, now I also want to go to such a holiday.

Thanks for writing about Shanghai Noodles. My child also really liked the liturgy, where he himself helps in the altar and then plays on the stage. It's good to give them so many roles.

Thank you for mentioning the Shanghai noodles - my daughter would not refuse to try them after the Liturgy either. It is good that the children were given to serve in the altar and play roles in the performance, and not just sit. I especially liked how they showed Tubabao and Paris with dances.

Yes, Mykhailo, the Shanghai noodles after the Liturgy were something special, my eldest daughter also asked for extras. It is good that the children were allowed to serve in the altar and dance in the performance, and not just stand. Were you and your daughter at that holiday in Nikulino or did you just read it?

Yes, those noodles after the service were really appropriate, my sister and children also praised. It is good that the children did not just observe, but also helped in the processions. Have you tried to cook it yourself at home or have you only tasted it in the church?

Yes, Ivan, those Shanghai noodles really turned out to be famous, mine also managed two portions and would take more. My daughter and I were there together, she just sang in the choir under the direction of Lyubov Demidova, and after the performance she asked about Tubabao all evening. And in which number did your eldest dance?
