Memorial Day of the Apostle Matthiastranslated

August 22, 2026 is the after-feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the day of remembrance of the Apostle Matthias, the Solovetsky and Valaam saints.

Bishop Vikenty of Tara and Tyukalinsky celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Spassky Cathedral in the upper Ilyinsky Church in the city of Tara.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were: Secretary of the Diocesan Council, Keymaster of the Cathedral, Archimandrite Thaddeus (Cherednichenko); clergy of the cathedral, Hieromonk Theodosius (Dolgov), priest Georgy Surdushkin, hierodeacon of the cathedral church.

At the special litany, special petitions were offered for the Fatherland, and a prayer was read for Holy Rus'.

The service ended with the glorification of the Transfiguration of the Lord, after which His Eminence addressed those gathered with a word of edification.

We are all worried about strife and discord in society, sometimes turning into fratricidal strife, and we all sincerely wish that a peaceful sky will always be above us and our children. But it is important to remember that “quiet and silent living” in the place where we live, in our country, throughout the globe...
