The teaching word of ÎPS Dr. Irineu, Archbishop of Craiova and Metropolitan of Oltenia, on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, Parable of the wedding of the emperor's son (Matthew 22, 1-14)translated

Beloved believers,

In today's Gospel we are told that a king, wanting to make a wedding for his son, called several guests. Those invited to the wedding refused the invitation or did not want to listen to the emperor's call. The one who invited them to the wedding was an emperor who wanted to share his joy with his friends. The emperor called them to his son's wedding, when everything was already prepared and it was truly an honor to attend. Those called had to consider it a duty to participate in such a festivity, for they were not called by any ordinary person, but by the emperor, someone superior to them, special to anyone in this world. And although it was the emperor's invitation, they did not respond to this call, being preoccupied with personal matters. In other words, those called to the wedding had work at home, had countries to visit, households to manage, commercial concerns or other customs to fulfill. Others, more reckless than the first, began to mock the emperor's envoys and killed them.

This parable shows God's long-suffering, His great concern for the human race. It…

Mulțumesc pentru acest cuvânt. M-a făcut să mă gândesc la invitații mei de duminică: de câte ori am zis „acum nu pot, am treabă la bucătărie sau cu hârtiile de la serviciu” în loc să vin la Liturghie. Partea cu cei care i-au omorât pe trimiși m-a cutremurat puțin, dar cel mai mult m-a lovit că împăratul tot a trimis alți slujitori. Asta arată răbdarea Lui cu noi, chiar și când suntem ocupați cu „gospodăria”.

Oui, Olivier, ce passage avec les serviteurs renvoyés plusieurs fois m’a aussi marqué. Moi qui ai souvent la tête dans les devoirs de classe ou la liste des courses le dimanche matin, je me reconnais bien dans tes « hârtii de la serviciu ». Heureusement que l’Empereur n’abandonne pas si vite, n’est-ce pas ? 😊

Oui, Olivier, ce que tu dis sur les « hârtii de la serviciu » ou la cuisine le dimanche me parle aussi. Moi qui ai souvent du mal à laisser le jardin ou une couture en cours pour aller à la paroisse, je vois bien comment on repousse l’invitation. C’est vrai que l’Empereur continue d’envoyer d’autres serviteurs, c’est une patience qui nous sauve tous les dimanches. Et toi, qu’est-ce qui t’a aidé à venir plus régulièrement ces derniers temps ?
