The faithful are invited to the historical sanctuary of the Sihăstria Monasterytranslated

September 5, 2026 · 1 min read

The Sihăstria Monastery celebrates its historical patron on Tuesday, the Nativity of the Mother of God. In a post on the Facebook page of the monastic establishment, the community invites the faithful to the special program of services.

The vigil for the royal holiday will be held on Monday, September 7, from 5:00 p.m. This will be followed by the Night Liturgy, which will begin on Tuesday, around 04:30, in the Church of the "Nativity of the Mother of God" of the monastery.

On Tuesday morning, from 06:00, in the basement of the large church of the monastery, Sfântul Maslu will be celebrated. The akathist, the Hours and the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy will begin at 08:00.

In the second part of the day of September 8, from 18:00, the Vigil in honor of the Holy Fathers Joachim and Ana, the parents according to the flesh of the Mother of God, will be held.

The following day, Wednesday, September 9, the Akathist, Hours and Holy Liturgy will be celebrated, starting at 08:00, followed, from 11:30, by the Parastas for the founders of the monastery.

The Nativity of the Mother of God shrine was given to the monastic settlement in 1655 by its first hermit founders.

Thanks for the detailed schedule. Last year I went to the Monday night vigil and I remember how the church music rang out in the cold mountain air at 4 in the morning. I'll try to get to Sfântul Maslu now at least from 6:00, if the job allows me.

And I was at that Monday night vigil two years ago. When the Liturgy began at about 4:30, the mountain coolness came in through the open windows and the voice of the Protopsalter could be heard clearly, without any background noise. I hope you get to Maslu too, maybe we'll see you there at 6:00.
