Believers from the Sibiu villages of Alma, Şmig and Giacăș prayed together at the Sacrament of the Holy Maslu celebrated in the open air, on Heleșteu Hill in Alma commune.
The service was officiated on Sunday by the priests of the three communities: father Nicolae Cismaș (Alma), father Nicolae Bian (Șmig), father Mihai-Ovidiu Lomnășan (Giacăș).
Archpriest Flaviu-Gabriel Fleșer de Mediaș and Father Florin Savu from Valea Lungă also participated in the celebration.
"The Church gathers people around Christ and teaches them that joy is shared, and trials are borne together. Saint Maslu was, in this sense, also a testimony to the fact that common prayer can become a strong bond between people and between communities," the representatives of the diocese said.
A tradition of almost three decades The prayer meeting began in 1997, when the priests of the three communities - Augustin Lăpădat from Alma, Florian Țurcaș from Șmig and Nicolae Cismaș from Giacăș - performed for the first time the Sfântul Maslu on Heleșteu Hill during the Assumption Fast, becoming a tradition for the three villages.
