Announcement: Election of the new Bishop of Baltitranslated

During the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, under the presidency of His Beatitude Father Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, in the Aula Magna "Teoctist the Patriarch" of the Palace of the Patriarchate, the work continued with the election of the new Bishop of Balti from the Metropolis of Bessarabia.

The Reverend Father Archimandrite Nicodim Petre, abbot of the Bucium Monastery in the Archdiocese of Iași, and the Reverend Father Archimandrite Dosoftei Dijmărescu, Cultural Exarch of the Archdiocese of Suceva and Rădăuţi, proposed by the Metropolitan Synod of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, were candidates for the dignity of Bishop of Balti.

The Holy Synod elected by secret ballot the Venerable Father Archimandrite Nicodim Petre, abbot of the Bucium Monastery in the Archdiocese of Iasi, in the dignity and service of Bishop of Balti.
