Karditsa: The Agia Skepi of the Most Holy Theotokos and the messages of faith, freedom and unitytranslated

With ecclesiastical splendor and in a climate of national emotion, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the feast of the Holy Shroud of the Most Holy Theotokos and the anniversary of "NO" were celebrated in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saints Constantine and Helen of Karditsis. Due to the adverse weather conditions, the official Doxology and the speech took place inside the Holy Church, in the presence of the representative of the Greek Government, representatives of the local authorities and the faithful, who gathered to commemorate the historic anniversary and to pay gratitude to the fighters who offered their lives for the freedom of the homeland.

In the context of the event, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaliotidos and Phanariofersalon, Mr. Timotheus, referred to the deep theological significance of the person of the Blessed Virgin Mary, her place in the life of the Church, but also the connection of the feast of Agia Skepi with the events of 1940. At the same time, he underlined the importance of faith in Jesus Christ, love for the country and the essential unity as a foundation for the course and progress of the Greek nation.
