Archaeological research in Negrilești has brought to the surface new indications of the Roman military presence in the areatranslated

The archaeologists of the Bistrita-Năsăud Museum Complex have discovered new indications of the Roman military presence at the Negrilești site.
During the research carried out in August, various objects were brought to light, such as elements of military equipment: sandal targets (caligae), buckles, knives and rings, but also brooches and coins.
According to the researchers, one particular piece is a possible inscribed cargo seal, which requires restoration and further research for a more accurate identification.
Stone projectiles were discovered, attesting to the use of war machines, as well as fragments of sharpening creases. The rich ceramic material, especially pottery intended for serving and drinking drinks, indicates an intensive habitation of the tower.
Based on the archaeological material recovered, the tower can be chronologically dated, at this point, as being functional from the second half of the 2nd century AD to at least the first half of the 3rd century.
On the territory of Negrilești commune there are already five other Roman towers, included in the year 2024 in the UNESCO World Heritage.
