Bishop of Claudiopolis visited HS Prometheus in Southampton

On Thursday, 30 July 2026, Bishop Iakovos of Claudiopolis, representing Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, attended an official reception hosted by the commanding officer and crew of HS Prometheus at the Port of Southampton.
Bishop Iakovos was accompanied by Archimandrite Apostolos Trifyllis and Presbyter Gregory Florides.
HS Prometheus, the Hellenic Navy’s largest general support vessel, called at Southampton as part of the summer training voyage of the Hellenic Naval Academy.
Captain Polychronis Koulouris, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Greece in London, and representatives of the local authorities were also in attendance. During the reception, members of the crew performed traditional Greek dances. The occasion concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts between Bishop Iakovos, on behalf of the Holy Archdiocese, and the vessel’s commanding officer, Commander Dionysios Kapsokavadis.
