Assist. Bishop Timotei: St Eulogia of Samurcășești loved the Church more than herself

Assistant Bishop Timotei of Prahova of the Archdiocese of Bucharest officiated an all-night vigil service at Samurcășești Monastery on Saturday in honour of St Eulogia. The bishop highlighted the saint’s humble love for the Church.

“Who would have believed some 80 years ago, when she was laid here in a humble grave at the beginning of the totalitarian regime, that a humble nun would one day be brought into the church because she loved the Church more than she loved herself or anything else?” His Grace said.

The Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest highlighted the missionary work carried out by St Eulogia the nun-martyr in villages across Wallachia.

“Day after day, she was among the villages, working with children and preparing hymns and festive programmes in the churches.”

A great blessing In a statement to reporters from the Basilica Media Centre, Bishop Timotei said that Samurcășești Monastery was experiencing a moment of great blessing.
