Archbishop Varlaam performed the Liturgy and the rite of consecration of the bells at St. George's Cathedral in Kizlyartranslated

On August 8, 2026, on Saturday of the 10th week after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of the holy martyrs Hermolai, Hermippus and Hermocrates, priests of Nicomedia (c. 305), Archbishop of Makhachkala and Derbent Varlaam celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious in Kizlyar.

During the Liturgy, His Eminence was co-served by the secretary of the diocese, the dean of the Kizlyar church district, the rector of St. George's Cathedral, Priest Pavel Kalikin, the dean of the Makhachkala church district, Priest Sergiy Abasov, clergy of the Kizlyar deanery and the Makhachkala Cathedral.

After reading the Gospel, the bishop addressed the flock with an archpastoral word.

At the special litany, special petitions were offered. Archbishop Varlaam read a prayer for Holy Rus', performed in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

At the funeral litany, a prayer was offered for all the deceased ministers and parishioners of St. George's Church.

The sermon on the sacramental verse was delivered by the assistant dean, rector of the St. Nicholas Church in the city of Kizlyara-hieromonk Siluan (Isaev-Baidauri).
