Archbishop Stefan visited the nursing wards at Kholmechi Hospitaltranslated

Caring for elderly people in need of constant care and support is one of the areas of social service of the Gomel diocese. An important part of this work remains attention to the person, personal communication and practical assistance.

On the eve of the International Day of Older Persons, September 30, His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, visited the nursing wards of the Kholmechi district hospital of the Rechitsa central district hospital.

There are currently 11 elderly people here who need constant medical care, monitoring and care.

For the needs of the institution, Archbishop Stefan donated personal hygiene products, underwear, socks and other necessary items.

The Bishop met with the patients, talked with them, wished them strength of mental and physical strength, peace and God’s help. Archbishop Stefan gave each one a small gift of sweets and juice.

Attention to an elderly person, the opportunity to talk and support with a kind word are especially important for those who, for health reasons, spend most of their time within the walls of a medical institution.
