The Archdiocese of Râmnicu offered gifts to persons deprived of their liberty in the Mioveni Penitentiary, Argeș county, on Thursday.

The volunteers of the "St. Hierarch Nicolae" Chapel of the "St. Nicholas" Orthodox Theological Seminary in Râmnicu Vâlcea helped distribute food packages and strictly necessary products.

The social adviser of the Archdiocese of Râmnicu, Viorica-Adriana Iancu, emphasized that such initiatives stem from the evangelical call to investigate those in suffering.

"The Lord Jesus Christ calls all people to a new life, through forgiveness and love. Looking for God's word, to examine those in prisons, we want to be present and do good in the lives of all the spiritual sons of the Archdiocese of Râmnic, wherever they are", said Viorica-Adriana Iancu.

The initiative was organized by the Social-Philanthropic Sector of the Archdiocese, with the support of Father Cosmin Dinu, minister of the chapel in the Mioveni Penitentiary, and addressed a number of 100 persons deprived of their liberty.

Through this action, the Archdiocese of Râmnic continued its social-philanthropic activity...

It’s good that they haven’t forgotten about those who are in prison. 100 people received bags of food and the most necessary things - this is for the cause. Well done to the volunteers from the seminary and Father Cosmin for helping in the prison chapel.

It is good that 100 prisoners were given food and necessities. Viorika-Adriana Iancu's words are correct — the Gospel directly says that we must go to the captives. Thanks also to Father Kosmin for taking care of them in the prison chapel.

It’s good that volunteers from the seminary themselves helped distribute the packages. 100 people is already noticeable. Father Cosmin probably communicates with them every day in the prison chapel, this is important.

Good comment Thornike, indeed the gospel directly tells us about visiting the captives. Father Cosmin's work in the prison chapel is very important, especially when they provide for 100 people at a time. It would be good if such initiatives were repeated.

Yes, Nicholas, Father Cosmin's case is really noteworthy, because he has to serve in the prison chapel every day. Preparing packages for 100 people is not an easy task, especially when you have to do everything with quality. What do you think, if such visits happen more often, how can local volunteers help?

Yes, Nicholas, Father Cosmin has to work every day in the prison, and distributing these 100 packages is really a big effort. I think if the seminarians get involved more often, we will reach more people. What would you say, if they took books along with the food, would it be useful for you?

Good to see the seminary volunteers actually helped hand out the packages themselves. 100 men getting food and basics matters, and Father Cosmin being there every day in the prison chapel probably makes the biggest difference. I wonder if they ever bring a few prayer books along with the supplies.
ანა დოლიძე
Yes, Nicholas, preparing packages for 100 people is a really big job. That Father Cosmin has to serve in prison like this every day is really remarkable. What do you think, if they took more soaps and shampoos with their food, would it be more useful for them?
თამარ დოლიძე
Yes, Anna, soaps and shampoos would definitely be more useful, as they are often in short supply in prison. That Father Cosmin has to serve there every day, it is really a great contribution. Have you heard the exact conditions there?
