Archbishop of Albania to preside over Memorial Service for Late Metropolitan Dimitrios of Gjirokastër

The Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania will commemorate the first anniversary of the repose of the late Metropolitan Dimitrios of Gjirokastër with a Divine Liturgy and memorial service on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

The services will be held at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Gjirokastër from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will be presided over by Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania.

According to the official announcement, members of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania will also participate in the liturgical celebration and memorial prayers.

Clergy and faithful have been invited to gather in prayerful remembrance of Metropolitan Dhimitër, honoring his dedicated ministry and pastoral service to the Metropolis of Gjirokastër and the Church of Albania.
