J’ai toujours entendu parler du puits de Sainte Winifred, mais je ne savais pas que des pèlerins du pays de Galles allaient jusqu’à Wallasey. Est-ce que le groupe a pu boire l’eau du puits pendant le voyage ? Ça doit être impressionnant de voir l’eau jaillir encore après tant de siècles.

Oui, le groupe a pu boire l’eau du puits à Holywell, ils ont même rempli des petites bouteilles pour rapporter chez eux. Moi j’y suis allée une fois avec mon mari et c’était frappant de voir l’eau couler sans arrêt comme ça, surtout en sachant que c’est depuis le VIIe siècle. Tu as déjà visité le site toi-même ?

Oui, j’ai visité Holywell il y a deux ans après une randonnée dans le coin. L’eau qui jaillit sans s’arrêter depuis le VIIe siècle m’a vraiment marquée, surtout quand on remplit les bouteilles comme vous dites. Tu as senti une différence après avoir bu la leur au retour ?

Yes, we did sip a little straight from the well – it tastes surprisingly clean and cold even on a warm day. Our daughter was so proud clutching her own bottle the whole way back that we barely trusted her with the car cup holders either.
