The 30th anniversary of the consecration of the Peter and Paul chapel of the Smolensk Cathedral was celebrated in Belgorodtranslated

With the blessing of Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, July 11 marked the 30th anniversary of the consecration of the upper Peter and Paul chapel of the revived Smolensk Cathedral in the city of Belgorod. On this day, on the eve of the patronal feast day and the day of remembrance of the apostles Peter and Paul, Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol celebrated an all-night vigil in the Smolensk Cathedral. Concelebrating with His Eminence were: the rector of the Smolensk Cathedral, Archpriest Pavel Weingold, the rector of the Church of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Belgorod, Archpriest Alexey Luporev, the clergy of the Smolensk Cathedral, Archpriest Vladimir Lebedinets and priest Sergius Borchuk, the cleric of the Church of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and Their Mother Sophia, Father Alexander Fokin. At the end of the service, the bishop addressed the worshipers with a sermon. Addressing the parishioners, the bishop called the 30th anniversary of the cathedral’s revival “an era of testing faith,” noting that the temple survived not only restoration from ruins, but also modern threats, including drone attacks. “But we turn in prayer to the apostles Peter and Paul.
