October 22 is the day of remembrance of the murdered Bishop of Kuban and Krasnodar Theodosius (Vashchinsky)translated

Bishop Theodosius, in the world Dimitry Vasilyevich Vashchinsky, was born on May 14, 1876 in the Poltava province. In 1916 he graduated from the Kazan Theological Academy with a candidate's degree in theology. After graduation, he was appointed a teacher of theology at the Chernigov Theological Seminary, where he was remembered by students as a strict, fair and attentive mentor.
In 1926, he took monastic vows with the name Theodosius and was consecrated Bishop of Vinnitsa. Later he served at the Mogilev See, and in 1933 he was appointed Bishop of Kuban and Krasnodar. However, the bishop did not have time to arrive at the place of service - on February 28, 1933, he was arrested on charges of “counter-revolutionary church-insurgent organization.”
During interrogations, Bishop Theodosius did not renounce his convictions and did not go against his conscience. On June 9, 1933, he was sentenced to five years in a concentration camp. In 1937 he was imprisoned in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. On September 11, 1937, the Special Troika of the NKVD of the Far Eastern Territory sentenced him to death.
On October 22, 1937, Bishop Theodosius was shot in the Far Eastern Territory.
