I.M. Neapolis: Consecrations for the opening of the new Missionary year 2026-2027translated

October 7, 2026 · 1 min read

On the occasion of the start of the new Missionary year 2026-2027, on Monday September 28, 2026, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Neapolis and Stavroupolis, Mr. Barnavas, performed the established Consecration for the collaborators -catechists and cyclarchs- of the Holy Metropolis in the catechetical and missionary work, and handed over the appointments to Catechists and Catechists. Addressing the audience, His Holiness pointed out, among other things, the responsible nature and importance of the study of God's word and the catechetical work for the Church, aptly underlining that the work of Catechesis is nothing more than the revelation of the face of Christ as Savior and Redeemer.

Speakers, among the cyclarchs were Fr. Georgios Milkas, Theologian - Head of the Bible Study Circles of the Holy Metropolis, and among the catechists was Fr. Sotirios Prantzos, an educator, who presented the new catechetical material of the Holy Metropolis.

It's good that they shared new appointments and material. What particularly caught my eye was that Metropolitan Barnava emphasized that catechesis is the revelation of Christ as Savior and Redeemer, and not something else. Thanks to Father Georgi and Father Soteri for the lectures, may God give them strength for the new year.
