On October 18, 2026, the second open dialogue of the series of conversations “The Spiritual Meaning of the Russian Autocracy. From Saint Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky to Nicholas II.”
The series of conversations was organized on the eve of the 145th anniversary of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society (IPOS), the organizers told Thomas magazine.
In the format of an open dialogue at the meeting, church hierarchs, historians, art historians and public figures will discuss how the understanding of power as serving God, the Fatherland and the people developed and how this idea was passed on from era to era, incl. during the time of Ivan the Terrible, the first Patriarchs of Moscow, the sovereigns of the Romanov dynasty and Peter I.
Among the topics of conversation are the crowning of John IV, the establishment of the Patriarchate, the Time of Troubles and the sixteen-month siege of the Trinity Monastery, the election of the Romanovs to the kingdom, the church schism and the transition to the empire under Peter I.
