On September 14, Bishop John of Shuisky and Teikovsky performed a prayer service with the reading of an akathist at the relics of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky in the Assumption Cathedral of Vladimir.
Concelebrating with Vladyka were: Secretary of the Shuya Diocesan Administration, Archpriest Vasily Dobychin; the abbot of the Nikolo-Shartomsky monastery, Archimandrite Philip (Ponomarchuk); dean fathers and clergy of the Shuya diocese.
Pilgrims from the Shuya diocese, who had specially come to venerate the shrine, prayed during the service.
At the end of the service, the Archpastor made a brief concluding speech, in which he thanked the parishioners and pilgrims for their joint prayer, and also briefly reminded that Saint Spyridon especially helps in caring for the poor and assists in housing and family issues. He helps all those who turn to him with sincere prayer and faith. The Bishop also gave practical advice, emphasizing that prayer must be accompanied by sincere repentance and the desire to live according to Christ’s commandments, and not be limited only to requests, but in prayers do not forget to thank St. Spyridon.
