This morning I remembered that my grandmother always told me not to start work around the house when it is the feast of the Archangel Gabriel. I did not know that there is also a ban on hair cutting and washing clothes. I will tell my wife so she knows.

In our parish, the father always said that on July 13, at the Cathedral of the Archangel Gabriel, it is good not to start new affairs, especially at home. My grandmother used to say the same, exactly like Κώστας. I have not heard of cutting and washing clothes, but I wonder if it refers to any kind of washing or only to large clothes.

Your grandmother was right, I remember when I was little they used to say "don't start anything new" that day. I personally had never heard of haircuts, but my own mother told me about laundry. Do you know exactly why they forbade this, or was it just custom?
