A 10-year-old boy from Chechnya was awarded the Tigran Keosayan Prize for saving a child from a cesspooltranslated

10-year-old Yakub Alviev from the Republic of Chechnya received the Tigran Keosayan Prize for saving a 1.5-year-old baby from a cesspool.
Its founder, editor-in-chief of the international media group “Russia Today” and the RT television channel Margarita Simonyan, spoke about the boy’s award on social networks.
“The one-and-a-half-year-old baby fell into a cesspool and began to drown. Adults couldn't reach him. And Yakub said: “I will save you.” The men held his legs, and he pulled the baby out,” wrote Margarita Simonyan.
She said that Yakub’s dad passed away four years ago, but his relatives say that the boy is “all like him - he’s always in a hurry to help.”
“Here is such a man. Ten years. The Tigran Prize is for such people. Those who risk themselves for the sake of someone else’s life,” concluded Margarita Simonyan.
Margarita Simonyan established the award in memory of her husband, the famous director Tigran Keosayan, when she learned about kindergarten teachers in Buguruslan Liya Galeeva and Lyudmila Platonova, who protected children from an inadequate man with a knife. The size of the prize is one million rubles, and its laureates are chosen by Margarita Simonyan herself.
