Volunteers and cadets of BelSUT visited the nursing department of the Svetilovichi Hospitaltranslated

July 12, 2026 · 1 min read

On the day of remembrance of the Holy Chief Apostles Peter and Paul, volunteers from the parish of the Church of the Archangel Michael in Gomel and cadets of the military transport faculty of the Belarusian State University of Transport visited the nursing department of the Svetilovichi Hospital.

The trip took place on July 12, 2026 with the assistance of the rector of the parish of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Priest Stanislav Smolyak.

A concert program was prepared for patients dedicated to the memory of the holy noble princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom and the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity. The meeting participants were told about the lives of the holy spouses, who became an example of Christian love, fidelity and mutual support.

The department was given sweet treats, hygiene products, bed linen and diapers for adults. The concert, communication and attention from the guests helped create a festive atmosphere for the patients.

It's good that they went right on St. Peter's Day and talked about Peter and Fevronia. Diapers and sheets are most needed there, not just cute things. I thank Father Stanislav and the boys from BelGUT for not forgetting the grandmothers.

It’s good that we went on St. Peter’s Day and talked about Peter and Fevronia - about family and loyalty, this is always appropriate. Diapers and underwear are really the most necessary things, but not everyone can afford sweets. Thanks to Father Stanislav and the cadets for not being lazy.

It’s good that they not only organized a concert, but also talked about Peter and Fevronia - about loyalty and support in the family. Diapers, underwear and hygiene products are the most necessary things; sweets are not good for everyone. Thanks to Father Stanislav and the cadets for going to see their grandmothers.

Well, they went exactly to Petrovden and talked about Peter and Fevronia, not just the concert. Pads, bed sheets and sanitary products are really the most useful things out there, and sweets are often not available for all grandmothers. Thanks to father Stanislav and the guys from BelGUT for taking the time.

I agree, the practical gifts like the adult diapers and bedding really hit the mark—sweet treats are nice but not always suitable. It was smart tying the visit to Peter and Paul’s day while focusing on Peter and Fevronia’s story; faithfulness in marriage is something these patients probably remember well from their own lives. Did the курсанты seem glad they went, or was it mostly the volunteers carrying the program?

The diapers and bedding were definitely the most useful part—my wife works in elder care and says those run out fast. The cadets looked pretty engaged during the talk on Peter and Fevronia, though the volunteers did handle most of the singing. Did tying it to the family day theme come from Fr. Stanislav's idea?
