The aviators prayerfully bowed to the icon of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorioustranslated

July 27 to the 116th Guards Assault Aviation Radom Red Banner Base An Orthodox shrine has arrived - the icon of the Great Martyr George the Victorious.

The rector of the Lida Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, Archpriest Rostislav Lemachko, took part in the meeting of the icon. The priest performed a short prayer service in front of the shrine, and then visited various facilities on the territory of the air base, sprinkled holy water on military personnel and aircraft equipment.

In conclusion, in the presence of the command and personnel of the air base, in the pouring rain, the priest prayed for peace in our country, blessing, protection and strength of our army in front of the icon of the Holy Great Martyr and Victorious George.

Addressing the aviators, the priest briefly spoke about the life and feat of this beloved and revered saint by many.

Interestingly, the prayer service ended in pouring rain. In our garden after such rain it is always easier to breathe, maybe this was a sign for the air base. Thanks to Father Rostislav for sprinkling both the equipment and the people.

The rain at the end really stuck with me too, Stefan. Father Rostislav sprinkling the planes and the men, then praying for protection right there in the downpour, feels like the right way to honor St. George. Our garden does freshen up after a good rain; maybe the base needed that too.
