A meeting with Ural Orthodox pathfinders took place in Koltushitranslated

At the spiritual and educational center at the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Koltushi, a meeting was held with members of the detachment of Orthodox pathfinders named after the holy righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye, who arrived from the Urals.

A lecture was given to the guests on the defense of Leningrad and breaking the blockade. The children were told about the feat of the defenders and residents of the besieged city, the difficult trials of the war years and the price that had to be paid for the liberation of Leningrad.

We paid attention to the preservation of historical memory and the need to carefully pass on evidence of the events of the Great Patriotic War to the younger generation. The participants also discussed the problem of distortion of historical facts and attempts to justify the crimes of Nazism.

Thank God that the children from Verhoturje came to Koltuša. The lesson about breaking through the blockade is important, my mother-in-law as a girl survived the winter of 42 in Leningrad and for the rest of her life could not hear a siren without shivering. May the Lord give them the strength to convey the truth further, without twisting it.

Thank you for this meeting. My uncle was in the blockade of Leningrad, he lost his whole family to hunger, only he survived. It is good that the children are told directly about this and not allowed to twist the story.

My grandmother lived through the Leningrad blockade too, just a kid like Sofija's mother-in-law, and she never talked about it much except to say the cold was worse than the hunger. Glad the kids from Verkhoturiye got the straight story on the defense and the blockade instead of some rewritten version. Hope they take it home and keep it accurate.

My gran's brother was in the Red Army during the breakthrough in '43 and always said the worst bit wasn't the fighting but the frozen bodies they had to step over. Good that the lads from Verkhoturiye heard it straight from Koltsushi instead of some modern rewrite. Keeps the memory honest.
