It’s good that Vladyka Peter himself came to Rostoshi on the eve of the throne ceremony. The church there is small, but it is always soulful. I wonder how many people gathered for the vigil?

Рада, что владыка Пётр приехал именно в Ростоши накануне. У них там действительно небольшой, но очень уютный храм, я пару раз была на службе. Интересно, как пел хор на бдении — в такие дни всегда особенно хорошо.

Yes, Vladyka Peter often does this, he arrives in advance. That evening, they say, there were about forty people, which is normal for the Rostoshinsky church. Have you been there on the throne yourself?

Yes, that little church in Rostoshi always feels extra welcoming. I was there last year for a similar vigil and the choir really did sound lovely, especially the parts with the old Orenburg chant. Did you notice how many locals came out this time?

Yes, that little church in Rostoshi has a special feel to it. I remember the choir there last summer — they did a beautiful job with the old local melodies too. Did you catch any of the service this time, Grace?

The choir did sound particularly strong that night — I especially liked how they brought out the quieter Orenburg chant during the polyeleos. Have you ever been to the parish on a regular weekday when it’s just the locals?

The quieter Orenburg chant really does make the polyeleos feel different, doesn’t it? I’ve only been on a weekday once, when it was just a handful of us and the reader; the church felt so still I could hear the footsteps on the wooden floor. Do you go often yourself?

Yes, that little church does have a lovely quiet feel, especially in the evenings. I wasn't there this time but my neighbor said the choir stuck mostly to the usual Orenburg tones instead of the old local ones. Did they sing anything new that you remember from last summer?
