September 5, 2026 · 1 min read

On September 5, 2026, on Vosstaniya Square in Gomel, a solemn ceremony was held to bring cadets of the Military Transport Faculty to the military oath of allegiance to the people of the Republic of Belarus. The event was attended by the dean of the churches of the Gomel city district, Archpriest Igor Olshanov.

In the ranks were first-year cadets - future railway soldiers, military motorists, representatives of the State Border Committee and internal troops. In a solemn atmosphere in front of a line of comrades and in the presence of their parents, the freshmen took the military oath, vowing to sacredly fulfill their military duty.

Congratulating the cadets, Major General Yuri Shaplavsky noted the responsibility that now falls on young military personnel and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, stability, tranquility and harmony in Belarus.

The young replenishment was blessed to serve the Fatherland by the dean of the churches of the Gomel city district, Archpriest Igor Olshanov.

Many young lads in the ranks, especially those for the railways and frontier troops - you can see that their parents came with pride. It is good that Father Igor Olshanov blessed them personally, it gives peace of mind. Let them have a peaceful service and guard the country.

It’s good that Father Igor Olshanov personally blessed the guys, especially those who will join the railway and border guards. Parents stand with such faces as if they were seeing them off to school yesterday. Let their service be calm, as General Shaplavsky wished.

Good point about parents, Elena, my daughter also goes to school, and I would stand with exactly the same face. Father Igor always blesses calmly and to the point, without unnecessary words. And as for the railway, I wonder how many cadets there are trained specifically for military transportation?

I agree, Rositsa, especially for the railway workers - they have always been important for transport in our country. I'm glad the parents came, you can see how proud they are. Father Igor is always calm and warm, the boys must have been relieved after the blessing.
