On the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, the priest of the Annunciation diocese congratulated expectant motherstranslated

July 9, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 8, on the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, the chairman of the Blagoveshchensk diocese commission on family issues, protection of motherhood and childhood, Priest Svyatoslav Shevchenko visited antenatal clinic No. 2 in the city of Blagoveshchensk, where he congratulated expectant mothers on the holiday.

The priest told the pregnant women about the life of the holy faithful Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom - the heavenly patrons of the family, marital love and fidelity. He noted that their example still inspires spouses today to maintain mutual love, trust and care for each other, as well as to raise children in an atmosphere of kindness and Christian values.

Addressing the expectant mothers, Father Svyatoslav wished them good health, peace of mind, patience and God's help in safely awaiting the birth of their children. Each participant in the meeting received an archpastoral blessing and kind words of support.

Such meetings, held by the Diocese of Annunciation together with the city’s medical institutions, are aimed at supporting motherhood, strengthening traditional family values and spiritual support for women expecting the birth of a child.

It's good that the priest went straight to the consultation and talked to those women who were really waiting for a child. Reminder of Saint Piotr and Fevronia always hit the spot, because it's not a sermon, but a concrete example of what love and patience look like in marriage. In our parish, we also try to support young mothers, so I am glad that in Blagoveshchensk they do the same.

It's good that Father Sviatoslav went right to the women's consultation #2 and talked to the pregnant women there. The example of Peter and Fevronia is really the clearest – no big words, just how two tolerate each other, care and remain faithful. I am interested in whether our diocese also holds such meetings with expectant mothers.

It’s good that the priest came specifically to consultation No. 2, and not just to the church for a holiday. The example of Peter and Fevronia is always to the point - without beautiful words, just as a husband and wife tolerate and protect each other. We also sometimes have such meetings in Krasnodar, but it’s rare in antenatal clinics, it’s a pity.

It’s good that the priest came specifically to consultation No. 2 for expectant mothers, and not to a general celebration. The example of Peter and Fevronia is always to the point - without unnecessary words, just how two people endure, care and remain faithful. We also have such meetings in Samara, but more often in a church than in a clinic.

Good thing that father Sfântoslav went directly to consultation no. 2, not just at a celebration service. The example of Peter and Fevronia is the clearest – two people who are patient, take care and stay together without long sermons. Here in Iași, we haven't really heard of such meetings in medical offices, it would be good if they were held here as well.

Yes, choosing the local women's clinic made it feel personal instead of just another hall event. The way you put it about Peter and Fevronia simply bearing with and looking after each other is exactly right — no grand speeches needed. Do they have any regular parish visits to maternity clinics or hospitals where you are in Australia?

I agree, Roman, in consultation No. 2 this is especially useful - the women there are just waiting, they need words of support. This almost never happens here in Munich, which is a pity. In Samara, do priests often go to antenatal clinics, or do they mostly go to churches?

Yes, that's right - without pathos, but with this simple example of patience and care. There are also similar meetings in our Plovdiv Diocese, last year a father from "St. Marina" went to one of the consultations here. Ilya, are you from Blagoveshchensk following or just interested?

It’s good that it was the priest who came to consultation No. 2, and not just for a holiday. Here in Samara, too, sometimes priests drop into the antenatal clinic, and women then say that after such a conversation they become calmer. And in Krasnodar, does the diocese often cooperate with clinics?
